Locale

The City maintains over 430 acres of parks and sports-related areas. The Family Recreation Center offers a variety of activities for residents and visitors with facilities that include an aquatics area, gymnasium, multi-purpose room, youth activities area and a weight room. The Senior Center, Civic Center, and community parks provide numerous recreational opportunities for all ages.

Desert Lakes Golf Course, complete with a new $2.6M clubhouse facility, is a true desert gem, with the Sacramento Mountains providing a spectacular background for an 18-hole championship golf course, one of the finest in southern New Mexico providing year-round play.

North of Alamogordo resides a grower's industry extraordinaire. Eagle Ranch Pistachio Groves has Heart of the Desert Winery, and Pistachio Tree Ranch has McGinn's Country Store and Arena Blanca Winery.

Tularosa Vineyards has won international competitive awards and their ratings are featured in the Wine Spectator.

North of Tularosa is the White Sands Speedway, a popular stock car racetrack.
