Brazosport Area

Brazosport is a Texas Gulf Coast community comprised of Clute, Freeport, Lake Jackson, and Surfside Beach just 50 miles south of Houston. With over 40 miles of natural sandy beaches, offshore fishing that is unmatched anywhere in Texas, the Brazoria and San Bernard National Wildlife Refuges, Sea Center Texas Aquarium and Hatchery, museums, attractions, restaurants and shopping, Brazosport is the perfect getaway for the entire family.

Beach

If you would rather be on the beach, then the Brazosport Area is your destination. Miles of golden sand teamed with interesting seashells and marine life make this a perfect retreat for recreational sports, sun worshipers and nature lovers alike. Beach house rentals, motels, offshore fishing charters, restaurants and souvenir shops are ideal for beach goers in Surfside, Bryan or Quintana Beach.

Fishing

Fishing is a REEL Attraction! From wade to jetty fishing, to Intracoastal Canal bank fishing and offshore deep-sea fishing, the opportunities are year round and endless. There are dozens of boat ramps, marinas, and bait and tackle shops in the Brazosport Area, making it a boat owner's paradise. For others, the deep Gulf is easily accessible from the many charter and party boats of all sizes that make their headquarters in Freeport and Surfside Beach. Experienced captains and crews make fishing out where the "big ones" are an exciting and enjoyable event.

Birding

Yes, our climate is perfect for birding! The combination of location, relatively mild climate, and diverse habitat make the Brazosport Area home and haven to more than 300 bird species. Prairies, hardwood forests, rivers, bayous, marshes, lakes, bays and Gulf of Mexico shoreline characterize this coastal plain.

Attractions

There is no shortage of activities to entertain people of all ages in the Brazosport Area. Sea Center Texas is home to a Gulf of Mexico aquarium, a red drum fish hatchery, and more. With the Center for the Arts and Sciences, home to the largest seashell collection in the South, two National Wildlife Refuges, a variety of museums, and many historical sites you can enjoy yourself year around.

Things to Do

Shop till you drop, watch a movie, see the stars, find the "Spirit of Music", or skate the night away. There's something for the young and the young at heart.
